At Choice Homecare, we have amazing, hand-picked caregivers who help people stay in their homes and manage challenging life situations with care and compassion.

Every year, we like to honour a caregiver who shows exceptional care to their clients. This year, on May 18, 2022, we awarded the 2021 Employee of the Year award to Ramatu Yahya. Ramatu is a great example of what our clients can expect when receiving services from Choice Homecare: genuine, hardworking, professional, and highly trained.

Ramatu is a DSW and has been with Choice Homecare since July 2021. She excels in ensuring that her clients’ care needs are met, such as picking up extra shifts and re-arranging her schedule to accommodate the clients. Ramatu has faced many challenges with her cognition-impaired clients, but she returns the next day with just as much compassion and empathy as the day before. She makes herself available to train new staff assigned to her clients to ensure continuity of care and to offer support when needed. Ramatu has also built amazing relationships with her clients’ families and other healthcare professionals on the clients’ care teams. She provides suggestions and insight to ensure that her clients are receiving optimal personalized care.

Ramatu was surprised and honoured to be awarded with this award. She wrote, “It feels so good when one’s hard work is recognized and appreciated. I am so excited and honoured, and I intend to live up to the level of success this award demands.
